The Best Thanksgiving Décor For Your Home

Posted on

With summer ending and the colours of the leaves changing all around us, it’s already time to begin thinking about Thanksgiving, and if you have no clue how you are going to decorate for one of the most festive days of the year now is the time to start! Whether you need a new dining room table for the occasion or you need a few simple tips to help you get a head-start on your seasonal décor, at Guaranteed A Fine Furniture we want to help. Below are a few of our favourite décor trends for this year’s Thanksgiving season.

Seasonal centerpieces

The best place to start when choosing Thanksgiving décor is the centerpiece. The centerpiece establishes the tone for the rest of the holiday, making it the base on which you build the rest of your Thanksgiving look. Fortunately, incorporating a good centerpiece into your home isn’t difficult. You may even find it fun!

It’s also a good excuse to get outside. Collect seasonal flowers, fruits, and of course, your favourite berries (cranberries are always a safe pick). Using these items, create a centerpiece that your guests will be talking about for the rest of the holiday season!

Pumpkins set the tone

If a centerpiece establishes the tone of the season, your walkway sets the tone for what is to come. Pumpkins placed along the path leading up to your home can really help to set the tone for Thanksgiving (and later, Halloween).

If you don’t have a walkway, placing them on your outside steps or simply in front of your doorway is a great way to add a festive touch to the exterior of the home.

A Fall welcome sign adds to it

Create synergy with your fanciful pumpkin display by adding a Fall welcome sign to the front of the door. Any of them will do: a generic, ‘Happy Fall,’ sign, a customized Fall-themed chalkboard, it all works. Further, consider adding a Fall-themed wreath in the same spirit as Christmas. This adds a touch of majesty to the season and will set the tone before your guests enter your home.

Fall-inspired candles to sensually set the mood

What better way is there to establish that Thanksgiving is truly here than by adding Fall-inspired candles to your home’s décor? Simple yet always effective, grace your dining room table with candlelight using glass candle pillars. Add other candle pillars around the home, use tea candles, and always opt for candles that give off the warming glow of the Thanksgiving season.

A word of caution about choosing Thanksgiving-themed candles, though. If you’re tempted to choose candles that smell like the holidays, like cranberry or pumpkin spice, keep in mind that they can overpower your guests. The scents can clash with your guests’ food when you have Thanksgiving dinner. Always choose scentless candles and let the aroma of your delicious meal fill the air instead!
